           HEAVEN'S VERY SPECIAL CHILD
by Edna Massimilla

A meeting was held quite far from Earth!
It's time again for another birth.
Said the Angels to the LORD above,
This Special Child will need much love.

His progress may be very slow,
Accomplishments he may not show.
And he'll require extra care
From the folks he meets down there.

He may not run or laugh or play,
His thoughts may seem quite far away,
In many ways he won't adapt,
And he'll be known as handicapped.

So let's be careful where he's sent,
We want his life to be content.
Please LORD, find the parents who
Will do a special job for you.

They will not realize right away
The leading role they're asked to play,
But with this child sent from above
Comes stronger faith and richer love.

And soon they'll know the privilege given
In caring for their gift from Heaven
Their precious charge, so meek and mild,

Is HEAVEN'S VERY SPECIAL CHILD.

       TAKE TIME TO CONNECT

Of those who see a child and say “he looks funny”; I say he looks like an angel.
Of those who look at a child and says “he’s such a bad kid”, I say he’s in need of my attention.
Of those who say this child can’t learn, I say God made all his children able to gain knowledge.
Of those who say “he doesn’t deserve to be in public education, I say every child deserves at least a fighting chance at this opportunity.
And when this child screams and hits he is calling upon us to help him. Help him because he knows that no matter how hard he tries, he will never be like the others.
We must go beyond the call of our duties to assess the underlining needs of all our children. We must strive to help and not hurt further, to find the underlying causes instead of

just reacting to the symptoms...
Our duty is to connect, to remember where they have been and know that without you, there can be little hope of a productive future. So please, please take the time to connect.  By Nancy Story  6/11/07
